This week’s Take Five is about connection:
On Friday Jan 8, I noticed Mariel Hemingway’s post on Twitter. It said “Here’s the Bindu blog…” with a link. For some reason, I decided to click and read it. I don’t usually read many posts like that. It turns out that Bindu is her beloved dog, and she wrote about losing him on Dec 19. After about 36 hours of devoted searching, Mariel received a message from one of her followers on Twitter with information about Bindu’s whereabouts. The person was an intuitive healer and told Mariel that she saw Bindu in a garage with people who seemed scared to turn him in, as they were afraid to get in trouble/thought it was a bad omen that they had him since he was not their dog. She also said that Bindu was fine but didn’t like the food the people were giving him.
During this time, Mariel had received a lot of unsolicited guidance from people, but intuitively she knew this message was accurate. The message was from @jenuinehealing, aka Jenuine Ward http://jenuinehealing.com/. Jen sent “messages” to the people who had Bindu and assured them that they did nothing wrong by rescuing him, and guided them to turn him in. Nine days later Mariel and Bindu were reunited.
I was so moved. This was the third significant “lost dog” story that had come my way, and with the first two I had written prayers for the dog, families and everyone else involved. I was so grateful when those dogs and their parents were reunited. Even though Mariel and Bindu were already together, I was reassured by the power of faith.
Okay, so what’s the point? On Saturday, January 9, I got an email from Fawn Pierre (Fawn is a dog/person teacher and she trained me, Ryan and Bixby) because Jupiter, another dog in our neighborhood, had run away after being hit by something while out at the beach. I thought about what I could do and felt a bit awkward because I didn’t know Jupiter or his owners. Then I remembered Jenuine. I hesitated for a minute, because I don’t know Jenuine personally- we had just connected on Twitter when I acknowledged her for assisting Mariel & Bindu. I trusted the story and thought- if my dog were lost, I would do anything and want as much help as I could find in bringing him home. That’s when I sent Jenuine’s info to Fawn and prayed for Jupiter.
Jenuine spoke with the family and also communicated with Jupiter. She urged the family to leave the lights on that night when they went to bed. They searched all day and were heartbroken but faithful. At 2:40AM Sunday morning, Jupiter came home, barked to notify his family that he was back and they were reunited.
We are all connected and we can all touch each other’s lives with the smallest gestures.
Obviously we’re all aware of the horrific earthquake that happened in Haiti, and it’s more apparent than ever how essential it is for us to include other people and their circumstances in our consciousness and responsibilities. If you don’t have the money to give, then pray. If you have the money to give, please give. There is a vast power which always available to us- beyond what we can see with our eyes, or our usual/habitual human thinking resources.
