Prayer for the Wedding Day

This evening I’m officiating the marriage ceremony of an exquisite couple, and wrote this prayer for and to dedicate to them.

Dear God,

This relationship is about tenderness, a serious and conscious connection full of happiness, contentment, fun, celebration, commitment, friendship, joy, togetherness, expression, strength, willingness, smiles, physical connection, generosity, impact, romance, tenderness, support and appreciation. In this spirit, we trust you to show us the way back home if we ever lose our way.  Let us always remember the clarity we have today.  Thank you for being with us always, and for showering us with your bountiful miracles each day.

We join together in fully releasing the outcome and details of our wedding day and all events, conversations, plans surrounding it. We place the wedding into your hands and let go.  We know this love exceeds all things the mind can comprehend, and we ask for your guidance in remembering and living in that love. While we deeply appreciate beauty and elegance, your beauty is the most elegant we could ever imagine.  Please help us to engage with each other, our loved ones and everyone we contact with generosity, ease, honor, respect, ease, harmony and connection.

We wish to use our energy by loving and radiating the higher purpose of this marriage, rather than becoming distracted and fearful that something will be forgotten or imperfect. Most of all, dear precious God, we are open to receiving your higher plan for the marriage itself. We know this is your marriage not our own, and we want to love as you love in order to become fully alive. Thank you  for this opportunity.

And so it is, Amen.
